A bill is soon to be discussed by the state’s Senate Wagering, Tourism and Historical Preservation Committee that will allow casino employees to run for office in elections. If the Committee approves the bill it will then be voted on in the Senate. This is a very important issue due to the fact that almost 25% of the residents of Atlantic City are casino workers. In other words, quite a large proportion of the population of the state has never been able to run for office since the law making it illegal came into force more than thirty years ago.
