Bingo Blow

Premier Online Bingo Destination

Bingo is often considered by many as an old-fashioned card game by many. After all, why play bingo when you can play other more popular games such as poker, gin rummy, baccarat, and others? Bingo is a game many people think that only the old people play. However, it may surprise people to know that millions and millions of people around the world still play online bingo. In fact, according to statistics, more than 60 million people all over the world still play this quite beloved card game. And majority of that number actually resides in the United Kingdom. This is proof that in the United Kingdom, bingo remains to be one of the top card games, only second to the massively popular lottery.

Another proof that bingo is popular in the United Kingdom? Bingo on television. In the United Kingdom, there is a cable channel devoted to bingo, wherein players simply have to buy their cards from the Internet and other means. With card at hand, they can play right at the comfort of their own homes. Noticeably, this is quite similar to online bingo, except for one important factor: the television is more far reaching than the Internet, at least if you take into consideration the usual age of bingo players. Although many people play online bingo, to a point where the younger players are actually enticed to play bingo online, there are still a number of players who cannot play bingo online due to a number of reasons. Therefore, they still play bingo in traditional bingo halls. But with bingo television, they can forego playing inside a bingo hall for the convenience of playing bingo while sitting on their couch.

One reason why bingo could be popular in the United Kingdom is the fact that bingo is actually being played in casinos and other similar clubs. Instead of the usual bingo halls, the bingo clubs in the United Kingdom are actually more like exclusive clubs rather than the typical dingy setup. In United Kingdom, playing bingo is much more appealing than in any other place in the world. In fact, many bingo halls and online bingo websites parade the fact that even celebrities play bingo. The likes of Chris Evans, Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls, Jennifer Lopez, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, among others, have been seen playing bingo, whether online or offline.

Even more surprisingly, bingo is still growing in the United Kingdom, especially among the younger population. In terms of online bingo popularity, only the United States of America and Japan have UK beat. In the UK, online bingo is currently the top pastime among young women aged 20 to 25. Although it is said that online bingo players in the United Kingdom have even reached an overwhelming number, people expect it to hit such numbers in the long run.

Thanks to the benefits of technology, especially of the Internet, bingo and online bingo have suddenly become a phenomenon in the United Kingdom, as it is around the world. And it isn’t surprising.

Many online bingo sites in the UK are allowing online bingo players to bet on who will be the next US president.   Obama seems to have a good lead, but to be honest it’s anybody’s guess who will be voted in.  Obama has remained uncommitted regarding his stand on online gambling (online bingo, casino, poker or sportsbetting, whilst McCain appears to be sympathetic to the issues.

Online Bingo is Safer

18 September 2008

Vandals set fire to an old disused bingo hall in Glasgow three months ago and asbestos cement was found in the roof of the building by the construction crew clearing up afterwards.  Residents are furious that the local council had not told them previously about the presence of this highly dangerous material and it appears that the council members have known about it for some time.  The motto of this story is that it’s safer to play online bingo in your own home.

Residents of Inverness are opposing the proposed building of a 96-bedroom hotel on the riverside site of a 70-year old building that used to house a bingo hall.  The developers say the building, not used since 2005, would have to be knocked down to make room for the new hotel because it would not be easy to convert.
Members of the Inverness Civic Trust say the proposed hotel is an ugly building and will do nothing to preserve the character of the area.   A fight for the future.

From time to time this question hover in my mind, is not about playing bingo but being able to have a good time, socialize, meet your friends and enjoy your time.

Now a days that people are under pressure having to work a lot of hours and sometimes have to do two jobs do they really want to get dressed and go out? At this point technology comes to make things easier.

I did ask my friends if they would prefer to stay at home and play online bingo and i was surprised when they said yes, they recon that is much more fun, they can still talk to the friends plus they have more chances to win with less money. I never thought that I will play bingo online since I used to believe that Bingo is a community game.

I believe that less and less people will choose to continue visiting land based bingo halls. Especially now with the smoking ban around the world I can see people enjoying their freedom at home!

In the U.K. Bingo is played mainly in large halls with cash prizes, the larger commercial concerns are linked up with other halls during one particular game in the evening and large cash sums can be won on these.

It is also played in nearly every seaside town in the U.K. on screens in front of the player who pulls a slide across to cover the number called, but, presumably because of our gambling laws, there are no cash prizes, just various items like cuddly toys.

The other times Bingo is played, again for prizes, not cash, is in a myriad of local halls or schools around the country, usually as a fund raiser for various concerns like an old people’s Day Centre. Here the prizes are donated by shopkeepers and businesses in the town and surrounding area and the atmosphere at these Bingo games is usually very relaxed and a fun evening out where everyone is welcome, even children.

The prizes vary for these games but on average a prize for any one line is worth about £1.00 – £2.50 (depending on who is organising the bingo evening), any 2 lines would be worth about £2 – £5 and a full house (all the numbers on a card) worth £5 – £10. They could be boxes of chocolates, bottles of wine, a grocery hamper, a voucher from a local butcher for meat or a cream tea for two at a local tea-shop or even 2 free passes to a swimming pool. Anything really

U.K. (and Australian) bingo cards have three lines and nine columns (see picture above) and usually come in “Books”; single or multiple. A single book would contain ten 10 pages (10 cards) each of a different colour: Gold, Lime, Violet, Yellow, Pink, Grey, Orange, Blue, Red and White.

A multiple book has 6 single books. Each page in a multiple book has 6 cards of the same colour. The 6 cards on a page are joined with perforated edges and can be pulled apart. Experienced players will play all 6 books and inexperienced players or young children may only play 1 book, or even a single card.

As well as books, there are also single sheets of bingo cards sold with the 6 sections on (six cards) and these are called “Flyers”. Again you can buy just one section or 6 to suit your pocket or your experience. The flyers cost more per game than on the books but the prizes are usually worth a bit more.

In the large towns and cities Bingo is fairly “big business” and people play in deadly earnest, hoping to win that elusive jackpot. In small towns and villages it’s much more of a social occasion with amateur callers and a lot lighter atmosphere.
Australia uses the same bingo cards as in the U.K. In Sydney and Melbourne the callers are incredibly fast. In Perth they call a lot slower.
